It seems that I like to move a lot. So far, I have lived in Toronto, Lindsay, St. Thomas, Port Colborne, Port Credit, Pickering, Deep River, Port Elgin, Kincardine, Paisley, Montague (P.E.I.), Thorold, Niagara Falls and Welland. I am married with 4 children, ranging in age from 19 to 23 years old. My wife, Ovelina, works as an Outside Sales Manager at the Queens Landing Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
I’ve had a lot of interesting jobs in my life. I started out as a stock boy at a large department store (saw a lot of strange things in that job). Helped support myself at University by tutoring High School students in Physics and Math. I was a Nuclear Laboratory Technician, assaying environmental samples for radioactive content to monitor (among other things) who was performing “open air” Nuclear Bomb tests around the world. I became a Heath Physics specialist, a Nuclear Reactor Operator, a Teacher, a Computer Programmer, a Database Developer, a Computer Hardware Service technician, an entrepreneur and finally, a College Professor.
One of the greatest gifts that my parents gave me was a taste for travel. We hit the road for a solid month every summer of my childhood and toured all over North America. When I was old enough to start traveling on my own (age 17), I joined 3 friends on an 1800 km canoe trip down the MacKenzie River from Great Slave Lake to the Artic Ocean. At the start of the trip, the sun was up for 21 hours a day and the temperature was 104o in the shade. By the end of the trip we had to stop periodically to clean away the ice that was forming around our canoes and on our paddles, mitts and arms.
I guess that I have be an explorer ever since. These days, I mostly explore new technology and software development tools, but one day…
